Creator/Producer Contemporary Dance South Conference 2007 at the Manship Theatre

Teacher, choreographer, adjudicator for choreographic dance festivals, and dance organizations across the United States.

She has participated in several Art Councils as an artist, panelist and committee member across the South East Region including Louisiana, Alabama, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Georgia.

Kris recently taught contemporary dance and judged for Dance Educators of America Nationals in Knoxville, TN., Judged the 2008 Panoply Choreography Competition and panelist for several arts councils including LDA.

Cangelosi is the Artistic director for the Cangelosi Dance Project; a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization; a professional dance company which began in Atlanta in 1993 and continues to present contemporary works. Her company has performed in Scotland, Spain, Austria, Costa Rica, Lithuanian, New York City, Chicago, Palm Springs, Atlanta, South Carolina, Tennessee, North Carolina, Mississippi, and Louisiana. CDP is involved with several community performances and performs concerts at the Manship Theatre, Baton Rouge Chamber events, Fest-for-all, DramaRama, The Red Shoes, Baton Rouge Little Theatre Stage I and Stage 2 and others local events. CDP has an annual performance series with main stage shows and national touring.

Kris has produced over a hundred dancers and several continue to perform in professional dance companies across the United States such as Hubbard Street Dance Company, Giordano Jazz Dance Company, Vibrations Dance Company, Zoetic Dance Ensemble, Disney Productions, Cruise ships and other professional performances.
She received the Panoply overall choreography award two years in a row 2005 and 2006 for her work Caught and Poison and adjudicated the 2008 Panoply Festival in Huntsville, Al.

She is presently on the St. Joseph’s Academy faculty teaching three levels of ballet and advanced dance with two performances a year.

Her students have received scholarships to prestigious dance schools including The Rock School, American Ballet Theatre, Joffrey Ballet, Giordano Dance Centre, New York City Dance Alliance, Steps, Broadway Dance Centre, Tremaine, and other established dance organizations.

She choreographed for the Baton Rouge Little Theatre “The Best Little Whore House in Texas”, and SJA/CHS Drama Department “Oklahoma” 2008

Cangelosi Dance Project has been review by several international media in Scotland, Germany, Spain and in New York City in the Backstage Paper, The Arts Paper, Atlanta “Creative Loafing and in 1998 was nominated the Best Contemporary Dance Company, Atlanta Journal, Atlanta Arts and Entertainment, Columbia The State, Free Times Columbia, and several articles have been exposed such as La Vie Magazine Baton Rouge, Town Favorites, City Social Baton Rouge, The Item Sumter, SC, and others.

Kris has been on the prestigious faculty at the Atlanta Ballet, Atlanta School of Ballet, University of South Carolina, South Carolina Governor’s Arts and Humanities Performing High School, Breanu University, Virginia School of the Arts, Ballet Tennessee, Georgia Governor’s School, South Carolina Summer Conservatory, Giacobbe Academy of Dance and other schools through out the United States. Kris performed with several contemporary dance companies in Atlanta including modern dance companies; Several Dancers Core, Room to Move, Dance Force, Walt Disney Productions, Industrial shows and solo artists for shows through out the East Coast Region.

Kris’s work has been presented at the International New York Fringe Festival, Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Atlanta Fringe Festival, Piccolo Spoleto, Spoleto Festival in South Carolina, Atlanta Modern Dance Festivals, Jazz Dance World Congresses from 1994-present, Dance Under the Stars in California, Pacific Ballet Festival, Southwest Regional Ballet Festival, Panoply Arts Festival, American College Dance Festivals, McNeese State University, Southeastern Louisiana University, University of Louisiana in Lafayette, and local dance schools.

She has judged and taught contemporary Jazz and ballet for several dance organizations including Dance Masters of American, Dance Educator of America, Kids Artistic Revue, Starlight Productions, Dance Troupe, Encore Productions, Headliners, Rainbow Connections, Cathy Roe’s Productions and several others.

Her students have received titles and top overall awards at Starlight Productions, Starpower, KAR, Dance Troupe, DMA, DEA ballet competition, Youth American Grand Prix, NYCDA, Rainbow Connections, and Applause Talent.

Kris is a graduated of St. Joseph’s Academy High School and received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Performance and Choreography at Louisiana State University where she performed for the LSU Ballet Ensemble and LSU Dance Theatre. Kris studied dance with Mary Munro, Giacobbe Academy of Dance, Terry Worthy, Amelia Hunter, Lou Ann Norwood, Joe Tremaine, Gus Giordano, Nan Giordano, Randy Duncan, Roland Dupree, Carol Connors, Sara Yarbrough, Gary Harrison, Alex Pelham and Doug Caldwell. She began her studied under Powell-Moise with Margaret Powell and Donna Blanchard and danced locally at the Baton Rouge Ballet Theatre.

In addition, Kris was a writer for Dancer Magazine located in Miami, FL for seven years, writing on the top jazz choreographers and educators in the United States.

Victoria Pourciau
She has been dancing since the age of two under her mother Desirre Pourciau in New Iberia and began her professional training with Kris Cangelosi in the summer 2005.
Victoria has performed with CDP under Cangelosi at the Jazz Dance World Congresses in Chicago for two summers, Palm Springs, CA, New York City, South Carolina, Alabama, and across the southern region as a soloist for the company. In addition to Cangelosi’ choreography; she has performed in national renowned Susan Quinn-Williams, Paul Appleman, Terrance Henderson, Jose Traba, Jason Parsons, and Irene Rampino’s work.
Victoria has studied intensively with Nan Giordano, Michael Williams, Susan Quinn-Williams, Jose Traba, Val Salnikov, Polly Anderson, and others. She teaches for her mother’s school in New Iberia Desiree's L'ecole de Danse and the Cangelosi Dance Project. Victoria is very active in the competition circuit where her students are awarded several titles, top scores and scholarships.
Her enthusiasm as a children's teacher is unique and playful while teaching basic skills in ballet and creative movement. She is the assistant to Kris Cangelosi for the school and company where she recently assist at DEA nationals in Knoxville, TN.



Emily Cook
Emily is a Cangelosi Dance Project member for the third season. She is a LSU senior and minors in dance. Her professional credit is with Walt Disney and has been featured in several dance productions, musicals in the area. She trained under Carol Delarue in Lafayette and continued her professional training with Cangelosi in 2006.
