Kris Cangelosi teaches at the USA International Ballet Competition

Kris Cangelosi, artistic director of the Cangelosi Dance Project based in Baton Rouge, recently taught Contemporary Dance, Modern Dance and Classical Ballet for two weeks at the IBC School during the ballet competition. USA IBC is one of the world’s most prestigious dance events held every four years and in 1982 the United States Congress passed a Joint Resolution designating Jackson, MS as the official home for IBC.   Kris Cangelosi was presented at the IBC Opening Ceremony June 12^th and the Gala Performance June 26^th at the Thalia Mara Theatre for acknowledgement of her master teaching position.In addition to the opening ceremony; Arthur Mitchell who is the founding director of Dance Theatre of Harlem was the USA IBC Honorary Chairman for this year’s USA IBC event. The IBC competitor Selection Committee was Ethan Stiefel, Ravenna Tucker, and William Whitener. The master and mistress of the evening’s ceremonies were Christopher D’Amboise and Evelyn Hart. The USA International Ballet Competition is a two-week “Olympic-style” competition where tomorrow’s ballet stars vie for gold, silver, and bronze medals; cash awards and scholarships. Designated as the official USA Competition by a 1982 Joint Resolution of Congress, the USA IBC is held every four years, in the tradition of sister competitions in Varna, Bulgaria and Moscow, Russia.The 2010 International Jury Members for over 170 competitor from around the world  was the following: Bruce Marks, Chairman – USA; Alexei Ratmansky – Russia; Denise Schultze – South Africa; John Meehan – Australia; Hae Shik Kim – South Korea; Lita Beiris – Latvia; Bruce Simpson – Great Britain; Xiao Susha – China; Thomas Lund – Denmark; Hideo Fukagawa – Japan; Samantha Dunster – Canada; Doris Laine – Finland; Trinidad Vives – SpainSue Lobrano is the USA IBC executive director and the USA IBC Dance School Administrator was Krista Bower. Additional IBC School Faculty included: David Keary director Ballet Mississippi, Rhodie Jorgenson faculty with Maryland Youth Ballet, Tatiana Tchernova with National Ballet of Canada, Donna Delseni director of the Nashville Ballet, Arleen Sugano director of Ballet Arkansas, Stephanie Murrish Gaifullin with Tulsa Ballet, Daniil Gaifullin graduate with Bolshoi Ballet in Russia, Diana Law master teacher tri city academy in Washington, Marcus Alford former Giordano dancer, Emily Yewell Volin college faculty at Emory University, and Mme. Peff Modelski certified classical master teacher in NYC and the IBC competitor teacher.
