Chard
Gonzalez trained at Purchase College and danced with companies from New York, Italy and the UK.
In 2001, he earned a Masters Degree at Laban Centre London and has been choreographing and teaching ever since. Currently
on the dance faculty at NOCCA, Chard enjoys teaching a variety of contemporary techniques based on Cunningham, Graham, Limón
and Klein. He has taught in many schools internationally including: London Contemporary Dance School, Laban Centre,
London Studio Centre, Roehampton University, Winchester University, Douglas Anderson School of the Arts, and in many dance
studios throughout the USA, UK and Italy.
Barry
Stoneking Barry
Stoneking is an Assistant Professor and the Director of Dance at Northwestern State University. He
holds a BFA in Theatre from West Virginia University and an MFA in Dance from the University of North Carolina Greensboro.
Barry has enjoyed performing for numerous choreographers, including
B.J. Sullivan, John Gamble, Eluza Santos, Karla Wolfangle, Don Redlich and Dan Wagoner. Before joining the NSU faculty, Barry taught at Elon University and the University of North Carolina Greensboro.
His contemporary technique class is grounded in Safety Release with a fusion of various upright methods.
It is athletically demanding and designed to develop a strong subtle expressive body. Barry is also
the artistic director of 2B TRIBE dance theatre. 2B TRIBE has performed at the American Dance Festival,
the Regional Choreographer’s Showcase; Norfolk, the North Carolina Dance Festival, the Greensboro Fringe Festival, North
Carolina Dances, the Louisiana Dance Festival, Off Balance; Baton Rouge, and State of the Nation V; New Orleans. His choreography
has been described as “athletic, quirky and human; transporting the audience to dreamy realms.”
Dana Brewer-Plazinic Dance Coordinator Southeastern Louisiana University She holds a B.A. in Dance Performing Arts from Southeastern Louisiana University and an M.F.A. from Mills College in Oakland, California. She has performed her work in Louisiana, Texas, Arkansas, Mississippi, San Francisco, Washington D.C., and New York. She is the artistic director of Izzy Moving Dance Theatre and is also a certified Pilates instructor. Mrs. Brewer-Plazinic has studied with BeBe Miller, Liz Lerman and the Dance Exchange, Woody McGriff, Beth Hoge, Carol Parker of Pilobolus, Wade Madsen, Skip Costa, and Janice Garrett. She has received scholarships to attend workshops at Bates Dance Festival, American Dance Festival, and San Diego Dance Festival. She has won the President's Award for Excellence in Artistic Activity and the Regional Arts Award for Excellence in Dance. She is listed in Who's Who Among America's Teachers and was nominated for a Big Easy Award for Best Choreography. Mrs. Brewer-Plazinic has also choreographed for the musicals "A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum" and "Side By Side By Sondheim" and the play "Dancing At Lughnasa" for which she won the award for Best Choreography by the American College Theatre Festival. Her work was selected by the American College Dance Festival Association to be presented nationally at the John F. Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. and she is listed in the Louisiana Artist Roster. She is interested in performing in non-traditional spaces and eliminating the boundaries of dance. She also collaborates with other artist to create new work and her most recent collaboration can be seen at tbfstudio.com. Mrs. Brewer-Plazinic choreographed a work in response to the sculpture of international visual artist Tova Beck-Freidman.
Val Salnikov Director/founder
of Biloxi City Ballet. Originally came from Russia where he danced with the world famous Kirov Ballet. While taking classes
from David Howard, Val met Mikhail Baryshnikov who helped him receive his Green Card. Val has successfully collaborated with
Winton Marsalis in US and Mstislav Rostropovich in Europe. He is on the staff of Carolina Ballet, he danced and taught throughout
the United States. His students have competed nationally and internationally. Some of them received contracts with companies
like American Ballet Theatre and New York City Ballet. In previous years he took one of his students to dance in Japan. His
dream is to bring his American students to dance in Russia. Val has professionally choreographed, and master teacher at the
Ballet Theatre of Florida, Augusta Ballet, Lynchburg City Ballet, and Saratov Theatre.
