Kris Cangelosi has been the artistic visionary for the Cangelosi Dance Project since 1990. She is an accomplished performer, teacher, choreographer and educator in dance. Kris received her BFA in dance while attending LSU and performed for the LSU Ballet Theatre and LSU Dance Theatre under Dr. Terri Worthy.

Kris performed, choreographed and presented her company in Spain, Scotland, Austria, Lithuanian, New York City, Chicago, Palm Springs, Atlanta, and many other cities in the United States. In addition she has served on the prestigious faculty of Atlanta Ballet, Ballet Tennessee, Georgia Governor School, South Carolina Governor School, University of South Carolina, Breanu University, Southeastern University, University of Lafayette, American dance College, Dance Educators of American Nationals, Dance Masters of America, Metropolitan Ballet in Atlanta, Yoko’s School of dance in California, and was judge for dance competitions for twenty years. She was the head of St. Joseph’s Dance Program for nine years and continues to teach residencies, outreach and master classes.

Kris serves on several boards in Baton Rouge including Women’s Leadership Council CAUW as well as a member on the Cabinet, CAUW program volunteer, and CAUW Team leader in education. She is a member of the YWCA board, Honors Chair for the Krewe Mystique de la Capitale, board member for Karnival Krewe de Louisiane as well as a past Duchess and Ball Captain 2017. She is a member of the Rotary Club serving on the Young Hero’s committee, Holiday Committee and Spring Social,   as well as a member of Krewe of Artemis. She has been the Queen and Ball Captain for Krewe Mystique, and Queen Artemis 2016. Kris is involved in many non-profit events and committees such as DWTS Big Buddy, DFC with ARC Gonzales, Bra Bust for Woman’s foundation and many others events.

Kris has coached and mentored many students for twenty-five years. Many have gone on to be professionals throughout the USA and abroad. Kris dedicates her time and efforts to her students who are interested in the performing arts as well as participating in the CDP dance program.

She received the 2014 Arts Leadership Cultural Award, 2014 Most Influential Woman in Business for the arts, and has been recognized by many organizations on her choreography and performance at Jazz dance World Congress for seven years in Chicago, Buffalo and San Jose, received the BEST Choreographer award at Panoply Arts Festival 2005 and 2006 in Huntsville, AL, Dancing under the Stars in Palm Springs, CA, and American College Dance Festival.
