CDP Announces the 2009-2010

Cangelosi Dance Project Open House 2009

The Cangelosi Dance Project, a non-profit dance organization in Baton Rouge, will hold their annual open house at the Baton Rouge Gallery 4:00pm August 9th 2009. Cangelosi Dance Project will introduce their exciting 2009-2010 season with several main stage performances to be held including the seasonal show “Holiday Mix” and professional show “Off Balance” at the Manship Theatre. Cangelosi will create two works for the Black box performance series performed by CDP at the Baton Rouge Little Theatre stage 2 and their annual Spring Gala Performance at the Baton Rouge Little Theatre main stage. CDP will continue to perform community performances including The Red Shoes, BR Gallery, local events in the city and surrounding areas. CDP will sponsor a 5 master classes series to be held at the Manship Workshop Studio. The return of the artist showcases presenting professional and emerging artists from south region in contemporary, modern dance or discipline of their choice will perform at the Baton Rouge Little Theatre stage 2. CDP educational outreach program A Collection of Jazz Dance through the Ages will perform in the summer tour and the CDP student company outreach program Move through the City which includes performances at the retirement communities and festivals through out the year.

During the open house, CDP will provide dance entertainment by all three CDP dance companies performing works from their Spring 2009 repertory, Summer Splash Workshops 09, and “Breathe With Us” which was selected to perform July 23rd in Chicago at the Harris Theatre for the Jazz Dance World Congress Leo Event. All works are choreographed by Cangelosi.

CDP will provide a variety of complimentary refreshments and beverages for the participants. There will be a $1.00 raffle to win CDP performance tickets at the Manship Theatre shows and Baton Rouge Little Theatre Show. A silent auction including several ballet art works from artist Cloutire. Levels of CDP sponsorship will be announced and distribute to the public for support of the company’s season. The open house admission is Free to the public. Woman’s Week Performance September 26th 6:00pm @ The Red Shoes

The Cangelosi Dance Project Company will perform selections from “Woman’s Courage” which are several short excerpts portraying a female inner self thoughts, emotions of devotion to produce, spiritual power and survival in crisis.
