Kris Cangelosi, creator of the Contemporary Performance Group and Young Artist program, is excited to launch 2 new ideal dance programs for serious students. The ages start at 10 and the levels are advanced, pre-pro and professional dancers who are studying on a career path for the Arts or actively engaged in performing at a professional level.
The CPG is a progressive contemporary dance company offering performances in the area and nearby cities offering advanced dance classes.
The YA study program will offer students ballet and modern techniques to develop their skills for performances with additional opportunities in the area.
The Performance Group: (Advanced/Pre-Pro/Pro Program)
Who we are:
Serious minded dancers in the community and surrounding areas who already accelerated their goal at a high level of study, performances and strive to engage in dance professional productions.

OFF Site Professional Artists!
We invite performing dance artists who live off site (outside long distance time to drive in to Baton Rouge) to join CPG!
CPG encourage off site professional artist to engaged with us by performing solos or collaborative work with other professional dancers in our upcoming showcases.

What does CPG offer their dancers:
The CPG group of dancers will rehearse in preparation to perform for the community settings by invitation performing at gatherings, social occasions/charity events throughout the season.
The CPG opportunities are interacting with all stage sizes and audiences throughout to enlighten the audiences for the upcoming season.
Ongoing Community Connection projects will expose existing educational groups to expand their knowledge of the arts.
To be considered a CPG Pro dancer.
The Requirements are:
Dancers must already acquire a high level in technique with proficient study in ballet, modern dance by demonstrating in an audition class, send a video or a direct invitation by Cangelosi. (Pointe is highly recommended but not required)
The Pro dancer can commit to the seasonal schedule unless approved with other arrangements by the creator.
Professional dancers will be asked to teach at the weekend workshop during the season and will be compensated for their work.
The Professional dancers selected for performance group is offered a package of benefits in exchange for performing purposes. Classes, rehearsals and performance schedule are complimentary to the professional performer with stipends to value their work. This keeps the professionals engaged, the ability to invite others to participate and observe their work in hopes of being invited by other organizations to fulfill their goals

What does YAP offer to these dancers:
The young artist program offers Technique Dance Classes to improve their dance skills in ballet and modern dance
There will be Weekend Workshops taught by visiting professional artists that are optional to enroll with a fee. There will be options for auditions for conservatories and be exposed to other teachers for advancement to their needs.
There will be Community Class Observation twice a year for family, friends and potential young artist students.
Outreach demonstrations will be scheduled throughout the year at libraires, small gatherings and by invitations.

Purpose
The purpose of Cangelosi Dance Project is to inspire an appreciation and admiration for dance education including classical ballet dance, modern dance, contemporary dance and additional forms of dance offering high quality educational opportunities for their students.
Artistic Excellence
Cangelosi Dance Project founder Kris Cangelosi provides dance training to serious dance students in many areas of the South and provide satellite dance program opportunities for students to audtion through pre-screening to become world-class performers. Kris trains dance students on a high level that pushes their skills and abilities to continue with renown companies such as Houston Ballet, Atlanta Ballet, Joffrey Ballet, an all-year Residents dance schools, summer conservatories such as South Carolina Summer Dance Conservatory, Giordano Dance Program, Atlanta Metropolitan Ballet, Dance Masters of America, New Orleans Ballet Association. New Orleans Center for creative arts and many others.

Cangelosi provides dance students with quality training, performance opportunities, outreach performance projects and workshops throughout the year.

Kris is presently teaching along the southern region from Baton Rouge To Ocean Springs for young students who wish to advanced their skills as a professional dancer

Professional Dance Company
Live Stage Dance Performance is the career goal for serious young dancers through pre-professional dancers. There is no award or medal. The reward is you are now physically producing what your dance training years have given to you, to an unknown audience. The importance of performing live for others at an early age through your years of training is to gratify the audience by offering entertainment for them. The team is replaced with employment and most of the spectators do not know you. Entertaining in your genre in live time makes the professional dancer produce to keep employed.
