Competition dance is not a career goal for professional dancers but a great way to perform live and see how you compare yourself to other dancers with professional judge’s feedback. There are awards, medals and recognition for additional programs that are awarded which build a dancer’s confidence and push their interest in dance through competing. Competition allows you to see where you measure up with other dancers in solo, duet, trio and groups to satisfy your technical and artistic needs. It also supports team spirit as a group while inviting your friends and family to view your entertainment worth and the outcome.
Live Stage Dance Performance is the career goal for professional dancers. There is no award or medal. The reward is you are now physically producing what your dance training years have given to you, to an unknown audience. The importance of performing live for others at an early age through your years of training is to gratify the audience by offering entertainment for them. The team is replaced with employment and most of the spectators do not know you. Entertaining in your genre in live time makes the professional dancer produce to keep employed.
